New Water Bubblers for the School

Recently the school replaced our old water bubblers with these new ones. The water bubblers can be used to fill up water bottles as well as having a drink. They are operated with foot pedals. We were able to purchase them through fundraising from Watashi Mo and a generous donation from the Lachtar family. Two are located near the office and the other two are near the hall. We hope the students appreciate the new bubblers and look after them.

Keeping students active while they learn from home

When children participate in regular physical activity, it boosts their physical and mental health and improves academic performance.

Physical activity throughout the day also improves concentration, and the ability to retain information and solve problems.

There are many benefits to being active and getting your move on, but a lot of children aren’t moving enough, particularly while learning from home.

15 minutes 4 times a day is all it takes.

To help support your children to stay active while learning from home, families can access a range of free COVIDSafe ideas to stay active and games through Get Active Victoria.

Families should remember that whatever gets children moving, gets them active.

Stay home when unwell

The most important action school communities can take to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, is to ensure that any unwell staff and students remain at home and get tested, even with the mildest of symptoms.

Face Masks in School

As directed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the following advice applies to all school settings:

School staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older must always wear a face mask indoors and outdoors at school, including when attending an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program, unless a lawful exception applies.
It is recommended that children under 12 years of age and students at primary school wear face masks when at school, or when attending an OHSC program.
For communication purposes, teachers and education support staff are not required to wear face masks while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can. It is recommended that face masks be worn while teaching wherever practicable.
Face masks are mandatory for all school staff and school students aged 12 or older when travelling to and from school on public transport and when in taxis or ride share vehicles and recommended for primary school aged students.

Headspace has also created a video providing tips to support parents and carers during lockdown and are running webinars for parents and carers about offering support when they are concerned about a young person’s mental health.

Wellbeing activities and conversation starters are available for parents of primary school-aged children and parents of secondary school-aged children.
