Principal's Report

Dear Parents & Families,

CONCERT

It is with much regret that we have decided to postpone the concert, scheduled for Thursday 19th of August. Unfortunately, the two weeks of remote learning has left us with insufficient time to rehearse for the concert. Staff felt that this short time frame would put too much pressure on students, staff and parents. After a great deal of discussion, so that the children don’t miss out entirely, the teachers have decided to reschedule the concert for the last Thursday of Term 3. It will have a different format to our normal years, but we thought it would be much better than cancelling it altogether. Rehearsals will commence next week.

PARENT OPINION SURVEYS

Forty families have been invited to participate in the online Parent Opinion Survey. We thank you for your response to this as it gives us valuable feedback from our school community. The survey link is open from the 19th of July till 22nd August. At this stage we have had 16 families out of 40 respond, if you haven’t completed your survey we encourage you to do so.

FEEDBACK FROM REMOTE LEARNING GRADE 3-6

Students from Grade 3-6 participated in a Warm & Cool Protocol where they expressed their thoughts about Remote Learning. Such information is valuable for us, as we can learn from past experience and improve student engagement. We would also appreciate parent feedback as well. An email will be sent to you requesting feedback on what worked well with Remote Learning and what we could do differently next time.  As you can see by the results social interaction is a key feature.

BREAKFAST & HOMEWORK CLUB

Starting on the first Thursday in September we will commence a Breakfast, Homework Club . It will run from 8.15-8.45am. Kasey Cook has kindly offered to assist with the program. The School Breakfast Clubs program seeks to address the impact that disadvantage can have on education outcomes by offering free and healthy food for students. Research shows that a child's ability to concentrate in class, self-regulate and learn is negatively impacted if they are hungry. Depending on the popularity of the club we are seeking volunteers to help with the program. Volunteering at a School Breakfast Club is a rewarding way to play an active role in supporting your community and helping to ensure students can start their day with a healthy breakfast. School Breakfast Club Helpers assist with tasks such as setting up the breakfast area, preparing and serving breakfasts, and cleaning up and washing dishes. Social interaction with the students is an important part too and supports informal learning of social and life skills. All schools require volunteers to have a Working With Children Check. Please contact me if you are interested.

LONG SERVICE LEAVE
