7/8 Update

Hello all and welcome back to your term 4 junior years update.

We are officially two weeks in and are starting to prepare for the transition back to onsite learning. The Junior school cohorts have worked tirelessly to start this term on the best foot possible. This is already showing in attendance and engagement levels across year 7 and 8.

There have been some absolute stand outs already. The following students have achieved 5 of more values cards in 1 week. This is a huge achievement! Some achieved 10 over the last two weeks. Well done to everyone receiving values cards during lock-down.

The following year 7 students have all been awarded certificates for this achievement:

  • 7A William Tran Vu
  • 7A Nasyiah Waljairin
  • 7C Mohammad Alam
  • 7C Omar-Taslim Ceesay
  • 7C Liana D'Agostino
  • 7C Billal Dib
  • 7C Jad El-Chami
  • 7C Albert Teah
  • 7C Luke Van Ekeren
  • 7C Marco Velluto

The following year 8 students have all been awarded certificates for this achievement:

  • 8A Lincoln Waterman
  • 8A Duy Anh Pham
  • 8A Amber Sharma
  • 8A Adam Tawil
  • 8B Aditya Koirala
  • 8C Syed Abdullah Bukahari
  • 8C Shayde Fievez

Well done to all and remember we are only two weeks in. We have so much time to achieve our absolute greatest during term 4. With the return soon approaching we do need to remember to keep working hard and be the best we can personally be.

Stay happy and safe. We will see you all soon.

9/10 Update

John Fawkner College would like to welcome back years 9 and 10 students to term 4 of the 2021 school year. We hope that all students have had an enjoyable and relaxing break and are ready to return to onsite learning early in the term.

I anticipate that year 9 and 10 students will be eager to return to onsite teaching which is scheduled for early in term 4! I would like to commend all those students who have committed themselves to the challenging (at times) task of remote learning and I would also like to thank parents for their support during this time.

Two key areas of focus for year 9 and 10 students in term 4 will be re-engaging students in their studies and redeveloping habits and routines that may have been neglected during the remote learning period. I ask for parent support as we aim to achieve these two goals as we move through the term.

Simple areas that parents can support students to return to school routines are things like:

  • Regular sleep patterns
  • Waking up at times that allow students to go to school
  • Following a healthy diet
  • Having adequate physical activity
  • Encouraging students to organise their school uniform and equipment for their classes before returning to school.

Furthermore, all year 9 and 10 students are encouraged to be aware of and follow up on the variety of careers information that will be provided to students during term 4 by our Careers and VET Co-ordinator Ms Miller.

Whilst a number of our year 9 and 10 students have been committing themselves to their learning during the current lockdown, I would like to acknowledge the following students who have demonstrated a consistent level of application to their work during this time:

Zakariya CHMAYSE (9A)

Logan VALENTINE (9B)

Emily NOTH (10A)

Once again JFC welcomes all year 9 and 10 students back from their holidays and we look forward to a productive term 4.

Year 11/12 Update

Hi all and welcome to the final term for 2021! This year has definitely been a difficult one, especially for our senior students. The resilience that all of you have displayed throughout the years has been phenomenal and I look forward to seeing all year 11 students onsite very shortly!

Celebration Day

OnTuesday the 19th of October, year 12 students celebrated their final day of onsite classes. The day commenced with students arriving in their school uniforms dressed up and there were some lovely interpretations of our uniform! Students then participated in a class trivia that Sebastian, Christian, Dylan, Ahmad and Alana took the victory. Miss K then took students to the hall to participate in dodgeball and futsal. To end the day, students had a lovely lunch with their teachers, some funny awards were given out to both teachers and students, and that was it for the last day! Below are some snap shots we took during the day:
