Assistant Principal's Update

Welcome back to our staff and students!

Term 4 Week 1 October 6 was a magical day, seeing our year 12 students walk through the front gates so happy to be back, with smiles from ear to ear! It was not chaotic in any way, just genuine excitement to be back at school, among friends and teachers. I also know, from the parent’s smiles and comments, that it is a welcome step towards some level of normality.

We recognise a return to school for some children may prove to be challenging after being away from school for so long. We have been working on our curriculum so that we can support this transition back into school across the coming months. Our teachers will focus on rebuilding relationships with students, developing confidence, self-esteem and resilience as learners and supporting students to re-familiarise themselves with school routines and systems.

Support in our classrooms is a focus and our Tutor teachers are working hard to support students whose learning has been disrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our tutors, Ms Dorothy Poulopoulos, Ms Jacqueline Cuxson, Ms Lauren O’Rourke, Ms Stephanie Konstantinidis and Ms Kylie Brickhill are supporting your child’s literacy, numeracy and engagement needs.

I commend you all for a job well done in encouraging your children during remote learning. The one take away for me is that we have a resilient community of learners and that we got through it, together!
