Secondary Year 11

Work Skills

The Year 11 teachers have been extremely impressed with the work skills that students have developed throughout the year.  Students are able to work as part of a team and many are developing independence and confidence in the tasks they are undertaking.

SMP – This class is running a small business, providing coffee and a sweet treat to customers each week.  This program is self-funded and students gain experience in marketing, customer service, teamwork and food preparation.

STC – Students have commenced a supported placement at Boots For All in Briar Hill.  This program focuses on skills required for the retail industry.  Skills of stock management and preparation, sorting and pricing goods, customer service and using a cash register.

SJS - The students in this class have returned to cleaning contract at a local church.  The students are demonstrating cleaning skills such as safely using cleaning chemicals and equipment, paying attention to detail when cleaning, and working independently.  These skills are essential both in the workplace.
