Term 3 overview

Outlined here is the program for our specialist classes for Year 3 Term 3.

Health and Physical Education

This term in Physical Education the Year 3 students will be building their skills in the sports of athletics, gymnastics and hockey. Within Health, students will be discussing and interpreting health information and messages in the media.

Visual Arts

This term Year 3 students will explore a range of Australian indigenous art with a focus on symbolism. They will create a small piece of work using the symbols to tell a Dreamtime story. Students will then transfer this knowledge on to a mural.  

Performing Arts

This term Year 3 students will extend their knowledge of rhythms and use them in a wide variety of settings. They will also perform melodies with accompaniments on tuned and untuned percussion. Some drama elements will be explored including improvisation, timing and rhythm.

Chinese

Year 3 students are developing a further understanding of Chinese writing, oral communication and an appreciation of Chinese culture. Students learn countries, different nationalities, media and study the Chinese Pinyin phonic system as well as Chinese cultural events - Moon Festival. They participate in songs, games, chants and a range of cultural activities. Revision of self-introduction, numbers and other previously learnt phrases, e.g. likes/dislikes, colours, days and dates, will be covered.
