VISUAL ARTS

Skills, skills and more skills. Its been all happening once again in the art room these past weeks, as students dive back into their sketch books and continue to develop their drawing and sketching skills. We have explored a wide range of mediums and combined all of this to create some spectacular works of art. If you have noticed a little less artwork coming home, don't worry, this is a big change in the art room this year as we look to utilize our sketch books. Many of these great works are currently being housed in our student gallery outside the art room. If you are in and around school please swing by.

Auslan

We have been learning about Deaf Culture, Deaf Identity and Auslan Identity.

We have researched the childhood of Cece Bell, who lost her hearing at a young age and required the assistance of a Phonic Ear hearing aid.

We have been lucky to have a Deaf guest come into our classrooms.

We asked these interesting questions to Lily when she visited us:

  • Do you hear peoples voices when you dream?
  • How do you answer the doorbell?
  • How do you know the phone is ringing?
  • Do you understand what people are saying on television?
  • How do you wake up on time?

MUSIC

Students in Grade 3-6 have been finishing off exploring a range of instruments in our Instrument Taste Tester Unit. Recently, they learned the basics of the drums, as well as explored the good and bad aspects of singing training apps. They are now ready to choose their two preferred instruments to learn and play in depth for Term 2.

The Grade 1/2 students have continued to learn about bars of music, using their knowledge to create small compositions on Chrome Music Lab's Song Maker app.

Prep students have had their first taste of playing keyboard and glockenspiels, exploring the concept of pitch and how notes have letter names.

Finally, our Grade 3 and 5 students were lucky enough to have our two school bands and two bands from Weeroona SC to perform for them. Rock and roll!!!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

All students have LOVED practising for Cross Country... 😁 Running along the bike track and building the endurance levels🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our kids have also been getting ready for the respective Athletics days. The 3-6 students have had a go at discus and shot-put, whilst the Prep-2 students have enjoyed jumping over hurdles and perfecting their frisbee and vortex throws 🎯
