School Council Update (7 March 2023)

School Council President's Report

There is a real sense of positivity on Council as we head into a year that we expect to be interruption free, with our refurbished main wing completed, covered outdoor learning area and grounds looking their best.

I see 2023 as a year where we build our sense of Community and engagement as we connect again with each other on the school grounds and move forward without COVID related restrictions.

The meeting covered topics to set us up for the year ahead:

  • Approving the budget;
  • Reviewing the Parents Association Events Calendar; and
  • Grounds and maintenance funding arrangements from the Government.

We also had the pleasure of having Lisa Oaten present an update on behalf of the School Improvements Sub-Committee on the work being done preparing a brief for a master plan for our site.  This is a particularly exciting piece of work and our School Community can look forward to further enhancements to our school and surrounds. There is great positive momentum being generated in this space and we thank Lisa and the Committee for driving it forward.

As noted in recent notices to the Community, the School's Annual General Meeting is to be held shortly.

It’s at this meeting that I will formally step down as President of the School after serving on Council for 7 years.

It has been a pleasure to contribute to our community and to work with the School leadership and parent representatives to govern the School.

I feel like the School is in a very good place with wonderful facilities, great teachers and strong, experienced leadership.

I look forward to my final year at the School and being involved in KK’s last year at the School.

Simon McCarthy
