HOLY WEEK PRESENTATIONS

Holy Week is the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, observed with special solemnity as a time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ. It is sometimes called the Great Week because great deeds were done by God during this week.

Students in Prep, Year 4 and Year 6 will be retelling some of the important events in Jesus' life which we celebrate during Holy Week.  Parents are warmly invited to join us for some of these events.  The details for each event are below:

Palm Sunday

Preps will present the Palm Sunday Story on Monday 3rd April @ 9:30 in the Hall.  Any Parents wishing to join us for this event are invited to the Community Space @ 9:00 for a pre performance cuppa.

Holy Thursday - The Last Supper

Year 4s will be releasing Video Production which recounts the events of the Last Supper Story on Tuesday 4th April.  All students in Year 4 have been involved in this production and parents are encouraged to check the school app on this day for the link, so you can watch it together as a family.

Good Friday - Stations of the Cross

Year 6s will lead the school through a Stations of the Cross Walk on Wednesday 5th April, parents are invited to join us for this at Midday.  Parents wishing to pray the Stations of the Cross with us are invited to the Office at Midday.

BABY NEWS

We send our congratulations to Alisha Keogh and Alicia Hughes on the safe arrival of their babies who were both born on Friday 17th March.  The families are overjoyed with their new additions and Riley and Oscar’s siblings are very excited with their new baby brothers.  As you can see from the photos Riley Hughes and Oscar Keogh Edwards are both beautiful boys!

ST JOHN'S SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL PARISH REPRESENTATIVE REQUIRED

Last year we established our St John’s School Advisory Council.  The role of this group is to support the Principal, Parish Priest and leadership team of the school.  Corinne Landicho was the Parish Representative on the council, but with Gavin and Callianne now at secondary school, she has tendered her resignation. Therefore we are calling on any parents who are active members of the St Andrew’s Parish, to express an interest in being part of the School Advisory Council.   Please contact the school if you are interested in pursuing this role.  Thanks once again to our School Advisory Council members for their ongoing commitment to our school community.

SCHOOL REVIEW

All Catholic schools are reviewed by an external body every four years.  This process helps us to identify strengths and set directions for the coming 4 years. The review will be completed by Mrs Mary Lovelock.  During the review our policies and practices will be reviewed to ensure we are compliant with government regulations. Mary will be onsite on the 22nd and 23rd of May and will meet with parents, students and school staff, to discuss St John’s programs and practices.

SUBWAY LUNCH ORDERS

The school will continue our partnership with Subway this year.  This initiative provides students with an opportunity to receive a ‘lunch order’, that families have ordered and paid for online, prior to the day.  Our next Subway Lunch Day will be in Term 2.

JAYDEN’S FIRST ANNIVERSARY

As Jayden’s first anniversary date falls on a day when Fr Albert is unavailable to say Mass, we will be remembering Jayden at our school Mass on 24th May.  While this is a sad occasion we can take comfort in the knowledge that Jayden is at peace in God’s care. At this Mass we will remember the many gifts which Jayden’s life brought us, and we will pray for Bill, Vesna and Jake.

CHILD SAFETY REMINDERS

With the school holidays fast approaching, we thought it was timely to include some Online Safety Tips.  The government’s eSafety Commissioner has a great website which families can access for a range of tips and supports.  The poster below covers some of the areas addressed at our Parent Forum in February by Carley McGauran from Inform & Empower.  As a practicing psychologist, Carley’s suggestions for families were practical, based on research and covered the 5 topics listed on the poster.
