Stage 1 News

Hello MGPS community! Week 9! We cant believe how quickly time has flown in the Stage 1 Lollipops.  We’ve had a fantastic term filled with lots of learning and new discoveries.  We have been so impressed with the way our students have been demonstrating resilience, persistence and confidence across all areas of school life!

We were so proud of our lollipops last Friday with a brilliant dance performance of the ‘Good times’.  Our students danced with confidence and flair with student led choreography.  Our PAX hearts were bursting with pride! Well done!

Our Stage one students have been working so hard his term however  we really need you to support your child by reminding them that toys, jewellery, teddies are not allowed in our learning zone.  This will help eliminate distractions during our learning times.  On Friday afternoon we have play based learning and this will be a great opportunity to bring something in to share with their class.  Thank you for your support with this.

Miss Williams will be finishing up this week to start Maternity leave.  We will be welcoming Edith Rose to the Lollipops to do some support work with the Stage.  We feel so blessed to have had such an amazing, supportive team member and wish her all the best for her new adventure.  Stage 1 cannot wait to meet the new member of the William’s family.

Harmony Day

This Tuesday the 21st of March we celebrated Harmony Day with the theme ‘Everyone Belongs.’ This week we have been celebrating our diversity that brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. We have been looking at inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Students have been busy making paper doll chains to decorate our special school.

Literacy

Over the last fortnight we have been looking at informative texts and the way we plan, structure and research facts to inform our writing. Stage 1 students worked very hard to produce a published piece of writing on their chosen animal remembering our special Seven Steps to writing. The results were very impressive!

We are looking forward to finishing the term of with a bang!

TEACHERS SHINING

This year our staff are celebrating the successes of our teachers each week.  In our staff room we have a "SHINE box" where teachers and other staff acknowledge each other and the contributions we are making at our amazing school.  Below are the names that were drawn out from the box last week.
