Principal's Update

Last Day of Term 1

What an amazing term 1 we have had at Waverley Meadows. We have welcomed many new students and staff to our school this year and they have quickly become important members of our small and friendly community. I am always so proud of the way our students, staff and families welcome everyone and take the time to get to know them.

Our Prep students have completed their first term of primary school and have learnt so much already! We can't wait to see them continue building their skills and knowledge through the rest of the year. Well done Mrs Evans, Mrs Dennehy and all the prep students on a brilliant first term of learning.

Congratulations to all year 3 and 5 students who sat for NAPLAN last month. All students tried their very best and we are proud of the way you approached the tests with maturity and effort. This is the first of 4 NAPLAN assessments for the year 3 students, who will sit for NAPLAN again in year 5, year 7 and year 9. Results are expected to arrive early next term.

Our year 5/6 students have represented our school proudly both on and offsite throughout the term. They have participated in interschool sports, kindergarten support with Columbia Park Preschool, Early Learning support with Columbia Park ELC and Buddies with our own Preps. The students take their role as mentors to the younger children very seriously and we receive terrific feedback on the way our students behave when working away from the school.

Yesterday we were treated to a visit from Olympic Diver, Domonic Bedggood, who dropped in to speak to our year 3-6's about his career as an athlete and gave students some great motivational tips on reaching your goals! He spoke about the importance of time-management, dedication and goal-setting. Domonic will be retiring from athletics after the Paris Olympics but we wish him all the best of luck in his final events.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

We loved our annual KABOOM Sports day yesterday and students had fun participating in some wacky games and activities. Please enjoy scrolling through some of the photos below. If you wish to see more photos, join our Facebook page! The Facebook feed can also be seen from our website.

CHESS CLUB begins next term for those students who want to sign up (there is a cost - see advertising page for details). Students had an opportunity to experience what it's all about yesterday.

SCHOOL CROSSING

Please remember to cross Columbia Drive at the school crossing. Many parents are crossing the road between cars, even with their children. Please ensure you are setting a good example of road safety by using the crossing. Our supervisor is there to ensure the safety of all our children and families before and after school.

LAST day today

A reminder that it is the last day of term for students today. Staff will be participating in term 2 planning day tomorrow.

I wish all of our families a wonderful Easter and school holiday break.

Can't wait to see all these smiling faces again next term.
