School News

General Reminders

  • The school newsletter is published fortnightly. Please familiarise yourself with the Calendar of Events located at the back of the newsletter. Due to Term 1 being an extremely busy term, this, combined with Compass, will be the best place to access information relating to all upcoming events during the term. Upcoming events will be listed at the earliest possible opportunity, however this is dependent on dates being finalised in time for publishing.
  • Students are no longer permitted between the Drama Centre and the Primary School play area, with the exception of going to and from a PE class in the Gym or a Student Assembly in the Drama Centre.
  • Students are not to remain in corridors during recess and lunchtimes unless advised otherwise by a staff member.
  • For safety reasons, there is to be no running in and around the school buildings; please save this activity for the school oval and/or the basketball courts.
  • Please ensure you are attending class with all the necessary items you need to learn (charged laptop, stationery, exercise and text books and any required homework).
  • All sign-up sheets for inter-school sports will be placed on the sports noticeboard in the Link corridor. We encourage students to try out new sports in addition to those they are passionate about. Due to there being a limited time to submit teams in any given sport, we ask that you please sign up for your chosen sport/s as early as possible.
  • Sports equipment can be collected from and returned to the Year 12 Common Room, located opposite the library, each recess and lunchtime. Please ensure you are responsible for what you borrow, making sure to return it and have your name ticked off prior to your next class.
  • Guitar Club will once again be running on a Friday lunchtime, in the Drama Centre. For further information, please speak to Mr McClure.
  • Breakfast Club is held at 8:30am each Wednesday in the Student Centre; all students welcome.
  • After-school Basketball will be running again this term, from 3:30pm - 5:00pm every Thursday in the Gym. All students are welcome to attend.
  • Doctors in Schools will operate fortnightly on a Tuesday. Please see Jackie or Mrs Newberry for further information or to make an appointment.

Uniform

Now that the weather is beginning to cool, we ask that families and students make the necessary changes to uniforms to accommodate the change in climate. We have a variety of options available for purchase from Crockers Ballarat, to keep you warm on the colder days. Hooded jumpers and non-uniform coats, for example, Kathmandu Jackets, are not permitted to be worn and you will be asked to remove them, so please leave them at home. For further information around school uniform, please go to the school website; beaufortsc.vic.edu.au or check out the options on the next page.

Uniform Reminders

  • All students are required to attend school in complete school uniform, including school hats, beanies, socks and shoes. Please refer to the school website, beaufortsc.vic.edu.au, for all uniform requirements. If, for any reason, it is not possible for a student to attend in their full uniform, students will require a note from a parent or guardian stipulating the reason. If you have financial concerns relating to the uniform, please speak with one of our Assistant Principals, Simon De Zoete Spiero, Jackie Kerr or Kate McGinty, at the earliest opportunity. Uniforms can be purchased from Crockers, Ballarat.
  • Skirts, dresses and shorts must be of an acceptable length (generally between the knee and mid-thigh)
  • Hats and beanies are not to be worn inside, including both corridors, classrooms and the Gym. Please don't wait to be asked to remove them.
  • Hair past shoulder length is to be tied up at all times. Once again, please don't wait to be asked to do so. If you do not have a hair tie, please see Mr. De Zoete Spiero.
  • Earring studs, small sleepers and discreet necklaces may be worn, while the only facial piercing permitted is a small nose stud. Students will be expected to remove all other facial piercings and visible jewellery, including rings.
  • Discreet and natural makeup and nail polish are acceptable.

BSC Information Evening, Year 7 2024

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs every Wednesday morning from 8:30am in the Student Centre. This is a joint initiative of the Victorian Government and Foodbank and provides students with free, nutritious breakfast options including toast, muesli, yoghurt, pancakes, toasted sandwiches and fruit. Students are most welcome to come and help themselves to whatever they feel like on the day.

NAPLAN Breakfast

As part of our NAPLAN preparation we have been holding NAPLAN Breakfasts each morning of the NAPLAN program, in the Student Centre. From Toasties and Muffins to Quiches and Fruit, the nutritious and delicious breaky was a great initiative to give our students the opportunity to be their very best during the testing period. Thank you to all staff who assisted, with special thanks to Megan Bourke, Issy McLinden and Mrs Newberry for organising and carrying out each of the breakfasts.

School Photo Shoutout

School Photo Day, although a little hectic, went off without a hitch and we would like to thank our students and their families for their organisation and presentation of the school uniform and to students for their cooperation on the day. For these events to run smoothly it takes an enormous effort from both staff and students, so congratulations to everyone involved; even the photographers were impressed!

Footy Tipping Stats

Each fortnight we will publish the current stats for the BSC Footy Tipping Competition, so keep an eye out for who has made the leader board!

BSC Athletics Carnival

The BSC Athletics Carnival will be held at Llanberris Reserve, Golden Point, on Friday the 24th March. This is a compulsory event that students are required to attend. Students are encouraged to wear House colours where possible, otherwise students are expected to wear their BSC PE uniform. The canteen may or may not be operating on the day so please ensure you have a packed lunch. Any students participating in running events, please prioritise these over the field events and follow up your field events afterwards. We ask that all students ensure they are prepared with the following:

  • Appropriate footwear (Runners)
  • Water Bottle
  • Lunch
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Coat (in case of inclement weather)

GWR Swimming Results

Well Done to all students who competed at the Greater Western Region (GWR) Swimming Carnival in Horsham on Tuesday 14th March and congratulations to Evalyn Hayward who finished in 2nd place in the 14 y/o Girls 50m Backstroke.
