News from Sub School
Welcome to Term 3. We hope that all families had a restful break and students are refreshed and ready to learn for a new Semester. On the last day of Term 2, all students were given their Semester Reports. If your child was absent on the last day, you can collect their report from school.
Last week we held our Semester One Awards Ceremony. This was a fantastic assembly which acknowledged students who had achieved, not only academic success in Semester One, but also displayed commitment to their studies. This commitment was displayed through daily attendance, organisational skills and having a positive attitude towards their learning. Lyndhurst has high expectations for all our students. We strongly believe that every student is capable of success.
‘We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and everyone should be really excellent. Because this is our life. Life is brief, and then you die, you know? So this is what we’ve chosen to do with our life.’ – Steve Jobs.
Year 9 students, who are participating in the Fed Uni Casey Project, are continuing to work on their projects. This is a great opportunity for our students to propose real solutions, to the City of Casey, about how we can be a ‘SMART city’. Students will submit their ideas by the end of the term and finalists will be selected to present their proposals early in Term Four.
To complement the work being undertaken in the Inquiry Centre, Year 9 students will complete ‘City Week’ in August. Students will travel to the city, over three days, to explore the rich culture, architecture and history of Melbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to apply the knowledge taught in the classroom into a real-life context.
The senior school recently held an information evening regarding subject selections for 2019. Families were given information regarding appropriate pathways for their child. If you were unable to attend this session, and would like further information about pathways for senior school, please contact Anthony Brannan in Senior Sub School.

At the end of Term 2, the Year 12 formal was held at the Sandhurst Club. This was an enjoyable night where students were able to celebrate the end of their formal high schooling years with a night of fun and dancing with their friends. All students were well behaved and it was lovely to see how mature and responsible these students were, they were a credit to the College.
