Dear Huntingtower Community,

‘The lives of great men and women are miracles of patience and perseverance.’

Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings 340:26-27

As we approach the end of another term, we have so much to celebrate. This term has seen us adapt when faced with increased restrictions, oscillate between being on campus and learning online and re-imagining how we continue with the important events that bring our community together and build on the Huntingtower spirit.

I was particularly struck by the quote (above) from Mary Baker Eddy this week, as it reminded me of our beautiful Huntingtower community. We are blessed to have a community full of ‘great men and women’ of all ages. As individuals, we have exercised patience and perseverance in abundance. We have seen students, staff, parents and extended members of the community embracing positive thought and uplifting those around them. Great men and women are not defined by a single momentous act; it is through patience, perseverance and love, along with the vision to do their best and leave this world a better place that makes them great.

The mission and purpose of Huntingtower speaks to this very notion: 'The mission and purpose of Huntingtower is to be a beneficial presence in the world, to uplift thought and to bless mankind.'

While we have been physically distanced this term, we have remained socially connected and enjoyed several house and community activities. We have conducted the House Chess and Debating Competitions online. We congratulate all students for their participation and give thanks to the staff and to Mr Matthew McDonald and Mr Rodney Jones who worked so hard to reconfigure the events into an online format. Thank you also to our Student Leaders for supporting the staff and encouraging all the teams.

Next week, the community has been invited to join and compete in the Virtual House Cross-Country. We would love to see everyone involved and encourage families and the Huntingtower Alumni to also join in. Dust off those running shoes, put the lead on the dog and log your run/walk for your house!

Another community event I encourage families to enjoy is the Travel the World of Food cooking classes with the Huntingtower P&F. The next stop on this gastronomic tour is Asia! You will be guided through making Pork Ribs and Coconut Pancakes. If you would like to join in the foodie fun, please refer to the attached flyer on the P&F page of this bulletin.

I wish all families a wonderful term break and hope with all my heart to see you back on campus in Term 4.  Until then, stay well and be kind to yourself and others.

A smile is free to give, but priceless to receive!

😊
