Well-being Anecdote from the Student Diary Planner
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters,
compared to what lies within us. "
Ralph Waldo Emerson
This Friday our Student Leadership Team Elect will meet Mr Paul Ticli and Mr Sean Brannan for a Leadership Training Day at Oxford Falls followed by their second Speechcraft Presentation Course session back at Chatswood after school. In Term 4 we hope to hold a supplementary training day at which we can consolidate the Team's plans for 2020.
Next Thursday, September 10, at lunchtime the Student Leadership Teams 2020 and 2021 will meet to conduct a transition meeting wherein the 2021 Team can articulate their plans and glean some hard-learned wisdom from their predecessors.
A key achievement of the 2020 Team was their mobilisation of students across Year 12 in Wellbeing, Cultural, and Music Leadership. We acknowledge the recognition and badging of Harrison Clayton (Wellbeing Prefect) and Will Turner (Performing Arts Captain). I also acknowledge the great work done by Peer Mentors such as Ryan Pratt in supporting the wellbeing focus and initiatives across the school.
We look forward to the leadership of Tyson McCallum’s Year 12 Team supported by the Wellbeing Prefects and Years 10 and 11 Student Empowerment Teams of RUOK Day next Friday. The focus on Positive Education, and in particular Growth Mindset principles has inspired a fresh look at how we might support the wellbeing of our Students and Staff as learners and valued community members. Stay tuned for some upcoming initiatives as Mr Rick Russo, Mr Paul Ticli and Mr Ed Codsi lead the staff in Professional Learning Teams in this space, and Mr Greg Virgona and student leaders look to reinvigorate "Well Being Wednesdays" in the near future.
Congratulations to the Year 10 Student Wellbeing Empowerment Team who completed the Year 7 Table Tennis House Competition last week with points as follows:
This week, Year 8 will compete for their Houses and the Title on Thursday and Friday at lunchtime in the gym.
House Cup Points from 15s 10 a-side Rugby on Tuesday are as follows:
It is pleasing to note the contribution of some recent Old Boys in helping our Year 12 2020 cohort prepare for their graduation and HSC.
This Wednesday's "Retreat Day" will feature Anthony Bradstreet from the Class of 2004 who will relate his experiences in giving back to the community Through Faith and Hard Work as a student of Health Care, subsequently working for Surf Life Saving Australia and now as Community Engagement Manager with the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Similarly, at Friday's final Year 12 Study Day, 2019 College Captain, Oliver Tysoe, will return to support the students in his capacity as a current student of Aviation Management.
We wish our Year 12 students well as they move towards Graduation and the HSC with the full support and prayers of our whole community. The letter included from Mr Couani from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, eloquently expresses the regard, esteem and support we hold for our students and their ongoing success and wellbeing.
