Compass Roll Marking

We have fielded some questions about roll marking, and particularly about the numbers of unexplained absences that were appearing for children who may have missed a Zoom, or may have been missed in the Zoom. I would like to share with you that any “Absence Unexplained” that have been recorded across the recent periods of remote learning have been altered so that they now appear as “Remote Learning”.

We understand that this period of lockdown has had many of us feeling unwelcome levels of fatigue. We know that many children are tired, missing the invigoration that company provides. If you are planning on giving your child a break from the school day, then we ask that you take a moment and record this as an absence in Compass. This information is viewable by your child’s teachers, and helps them to understand absences, and support your balancing of school and recreation.

Zoom Free Afternoon

Wednesday 9 September has been declared an Arlington Wide Zoom Free Afternoon

The Forecast is for sunshine, dog-walking and 5km radius bike riding. Each class will only forego one 30 minute afternoon Zoom meeting, but there is nothing like a bit of change to the routine to get you feeling revitalised. We hope it has just that effect for you all…. What? Sorry, you’re on Mute!

Beth Alvarez

We are delighted to let you know that Beth Alvarez, who is returning from maternity leave in Term 4, will be joining the Peppercorns for three days each week. Beth comes to us from Blackhall Kalimna where she has taught across the humanities and PE curriculum for MYP and DP, as well as being a year 7 & 8 coordinator. Beth will be well placed to support our year 6 children as they ready themselves for becoming secondary students.

Parent Student Teacher conferences

A reminder that Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 September are the afternoons set aside for our Parent, Student and Teacher conferences. Families are welcome to use their usual weekly check in for this meeting, or opt to use the evening slots instead if the after hours time means that another parent is able to attend. We encourage families to use one or the other time within the week of 7 September.

Families are welcome to decide if they would like to speak with their child’s teachers with or without their child present. Families with children from the Kindergarten to the Sunroom who would like to book a time with

Madame Suzanne, please indicate a time which will work for you on the google form linked here, and we will confirm this with you by email.
