5 in Five 

with Bernadette La Spina

During remote and flexible learning, Year 12 student, Bernadette La Spina had a chat with us about her exciting new business venture. Read on as we ask 5 questions in Five minutes to learn all about her business and the motivation behind it.

Q. What is the name of your business and what is the inspiration behind it?

A. I named it B. Pascolo, as in Italian, Pascolo means "grazing" and they are dessert grazing boxes. 

I would often make these grazing boxes for family gatherings and they would encourage me to expand and share my creations with others. I really enjoy making them as it's nice to be able bring joy to people, especially at such a difficult time.

Q. What are some of the products you have on offer?

A. I have a variety of lolly and chocolate grazing boxes and I am about to create an American candy box also.

Q. Do you create different themes for different occasions?

A. I created a variety of Father's Day boxes that sold really well and I am about to start on some different ideas for a Baby Shower theme with the boxes tailored to the sex of the baby. Some other themes I will be working with over the coming months are the AFL Grand Final, Halloween and Christmas.

Q. What is your best seller?

A. The "Death by Chocolate" and the "Ooo Dam" boxes have been really popular. 

Q. What are your future aspirations for the business?

A. I am surprised with the unexpected success and hadn't really thought too far ahead. I would like it to be a successful side business, something I can do in my spare time. I am in the process of getting my Food Handling Certificate so in future I can create cold meat and fruit grazing platters/boxes as well.
