GOODBYE TO THE CLASS OF 2020

Congratulations to our Class of 2020 on their Graduation from the College. A wonderful ‘Assembly’ was held to acknowledge and celebrate the milestone achieved by each and every individual.

It was indeed a highlight to our year. A wonderful way to recognize each person. To be at their school on the formal stage was really a wonderful moment.

I applaud their efforts and wish them every success both for their upcoming exams and also for their future pursuits.

I thank the many parents who joined (via livestream) to see these wonderful young adults be presented with their certificates.

I applaud the Senior School Leadership team for all their guidance and support of the Class of 2020.

I congratulate the 2020 Valedictorians, Jeffrey Chum and Ana Mistric, who were very impressive articulate ambassadors.

We have had some truly magical moments over the last few weeks that have brought absolute joy back to our school!

A strong sense of community and belonging was very evident in both the girls and boys Years 11 & 12 football games. Both were tremendous spectacles for the entire school community. These will be the last ever football games on the bottom oval due to the construction of our second gymnasium which begins in a few weeks.

The Year 12 Dress Up Day and last day of compulsory schooling were both wonderful celebrations.  The Assembly indeed hilarious.

Thank you and goodbye to our Class of 2020.

YEARS 8, 9 & 10

These students returned this week and some were confused about their uniform, their lockers, where rooms were and even had forgotten their combination numbers.

Despite so much initial confusion and a dramatic return it has been wonderful to have the entire school together this week.

WORLD TEACHERS DAY

On Friday we celebrate World Teachers Day.

If ever there was a time to thank our wonderful teachers for the difference they make to young people this pandemic year is the time!

I applaud all our wonderful staff for their tremendous work to engage, enthuse and motivate our young people to want to learn and achieve.

The gratitude and thanks shown by so many of our families this year to our teachers has indeed been heart-warming.

Thank you is all I can say to each and every one of our wonderful teachers.

We celebrate your worth!

MIPS INTERVIEWS

Course confirmation is being undertaken by Careers Coordinators and all the Student Managers from Years 7 to 12. These conversations are very important. The team will either confirm the selected courses or make modifications.

This time of reflection really helps to cater for the needs of each and every student. Parents are welcome to attend with their son/daughter.

I thank the dedication and commitment of the Student Management teams.

UNIFORM

We have undertaken a significant tender process for the provision of our school uniforms.

We will be concluding our business arrangement with Fashion Clubwear at the end of this year.

From 2021 the uniform supplier will be Bob Stewart, who run a shop at 466 Centre Road, Bentleigh and will be open during retail hours.

For the remainder of the year there are indeed some bargains to be had as Fashion Clubwear hold special sales (20% off regular prices). I encourage parents and students to purchase uniform items now in readiness for 2021. It is best to do online orders and pick up if possible.

I also take this opportunity to thank Fashion Clubwear for the long term partnership we have shared and wish them well. I also pay tribute to Ann Manson who has been the public face of Fashion Clubwear at our school shop. I thank her for the professionalism, dedication and commitment she has shown over many years in the store.

On behalf of our School Council I congratulate Bob Stewart and look forward to a mutually successful business partnership.

I know they will look to provide our families with exceptional service and assistance.

GLEN EIRA LIVING SAFELY PROGRAM

Glen Eira Council, Victoria Police and Neighbourhood Watch have put together a crime prevention kit to help us make our family, home, car and community safe.

So much of our high volume crime is preventable if we each do our part in locking up our cars and homes, reporting suspicious behaviour and looking out for each other.  Each kit has a large sticker for your wheelie bin at home, a DIY home security checklist to identify your own vulnerabilities, and a covering letter explaining the initiative and how each of us plays a part in preventing crime and keeping our neighbourhood safe.

Our school has partnered with Victoria Police to bring these kits to you. The project is being overseen by Leading Senior Constables Lisa Dobbie, Chris Dawson and Michelle Lindsay from Moorabbin Proactive Unit.

You may contact the General Office on 8520 9000 and be placed on a participant list.  We will then advise you when the kits are available to be picked up by you from the school.
