Chrome Music Lab!

Chrome Music Lab is a website that makes learning music more accessible through fun, hands-on experiments. It is a fun way for kids to engage in educational ways but at the same time have lots of fun!

What is Chrome Music Lab?

Chrome Music Lab is a website that makes learning music more accessible through fun, hands-on experiments.

Through using Chrome Music Lab, students can explore music and its connections to learning areas, such as science, mathematics and art, through coding and creating sound.

There are multiple experiments to explore, each with a different musical focus to assist with introducing or reinforcing a music/sound concept. Students can create a piece of music and then write a procedure for another student to follow to recreate the same piece of music without hearing it.

Many teachers have been using Chrome Music Lab as a tool in their classrooms to explore music and its connections to science, math, art, and more. There are opportunities to  combine it with dance and live instruments.

A number of classes used the music lab during remote learning and our students absolutely loved the experience! It is definitely a tool that parents can engage with their kids at home, have some fun and explore sound through music.

Can I use it to make my own songs?

Yes. Check out the Song Maker experiment, which lets you make and share your own songs.

Do I need to make an account?

Nope. Just open any experiment and start playing!

What devices do these work on?

You can play with these experiments across devices – phones, tablets, laptops – just by opening the site on a web browser such as Chrome.

What's next for Chrome Music Lab?

The team at Google is always getting inspired by new, unexpected ways that people use these experiments. If you’d like to share something with them you have created on music lab, post it with #chromemusiclab or on the drop us a line link.
