The Leader In Me

ASHLEE SCOTT

Student Leadership Coordinator – Junior School

What a treat it has been to be back on site with all of our students! The students have refocused themselves, applied the Habits and transitioned back into onsite learning smoothly.

Our students have focused on ‘taking action’, as a part of Habit 8: Find Your Voice. Our Year 5 Leaders have implemented this through their Healthy Heroes Campaign, after identifying the challenges we have all faced this year.

As the year rapidly comes to an end, we have begun the process for our 2022 school leaders. Our candidates were interviewed and asked questions about how they would apply the habits as a leader and where they would like to take action. It was impressive to see how mature and reflective their responses were. It was clear the passion that they had to be a leader for the Junior School and be the voice of all students. The School Captain candidates were required to conduct a speech in front of our Year 3 and 4 students. For most, this was the first time they had to speak in front of a larger audience. Although some found it a challenge, their composure was to be admired. The look of pride on all their faces was very evident! Congratulations to all of our Year 4 students who elected to run for a position – you should be proud of yourself!
