Teaching & Learning

Having just returned from a brief time away, I am so proud to see our students focussed upon their learning as a matter of priority toward the end of another tumultuous year. It speaks to me of their resilience and hunger to learn more, do more and be more.

Formal examinations and assessments have been occurring across the school, so each student can see how they have achieved and grown this semester. Our students are showing that with a “can do” attitude they are able to confront difficulties and challenges.

The past couple of years have forced all of us to reconsider, what are the most important things in our lives, and how we go about getting done those things which will have the greatest impact on our future. As parents, we have always known the importance of a great education. However, it is becoming even clearer to us, through the disruptions and remote learning, the vital importance of not only content, but how we learn, the attitudes we hold toward it and ourselves, and the difference a supportive environment makes upon the academic and social outcomes of our children. I firmly believe we can be proud of our School, Oakleigh Grammar for placing our students front and centre in the learning process. Driven by our Teaching and Learning Model and by our core desire to see every student flourish, learning is not just an abstract concept, but a personal activity, shared along with others. Learning is a choice we must each make, a skill we need to develop and a beautiful gift we have been given.
