Selamat siang!

The term is flying! Week 7 was the last ‘normal’ week in the Leadership Centre for Term Four. Why you wonder? Because of all the amazing things planned for the next 4 weeks! This week of course we have ‘camp’ and after that we will be getting ready for Graduation, Leadership positions and winding down for the school holidays and Christmas! Can you tell we’re excited for these next few weeks?

In Maths last week, we began our Volume and Capacity unit. In groups, students learnt about when we use these measurements, how we measure and how we convert between units. Some students even began exploring formulas for rectangular prisms. We encourage all our families to practice measuring at home by cooking and using the language we have been using within the classroom! Next week students will continue to look at Volume and Capacity as they begin project style learnign tasks.

For Writing last week, we continued to look and write Haiku and Limerick poems. Students were given the task of writing a poem about a friend or partner and to use different adjectives to make the poem more descriptive. Students enjoyed using the sentences starter ‘There once was a ___ who__’ a lot found humor when writing these and for a bit of fun at the end of the lesson students had a ‘poem off’! The final writing session of the week allowed time for students to revise their goals. Students were asked to look over their goals and to decide whether or not they needed to update it because they have achieved it or could they spending time working towards achieving it. Ask your child today what their goals are! Have they achieved any so far this term?

In Reading students unpacked the NAIDOC Timeline and spent time summarising and paraphrasing information to share in their groups. It was impressive to see students complete their own further research and compare information from other sources. To conclude these sessions. Students gave feedback to each other on what they did well and where they could improve. The work and reflections have all been uploaded to SeeSaw.

Instead of our regular routines this week, we are bringing Beechworth to MPRPS. Not just through the three days of planned activities but during Literacy and Maths too. For the next two days we will work through Beechworth inspired activities and students can choose between a range of tasks relating to our Literacy and Math topics. We are so excited for Wednesday and hope that the students are too as we believe they really deserve the most amazing time! For the first hour on Wednesday and Thursday we are excited to share that students will participate in a virtual tour of some of the key aspects Beechworth has to offer! The ‘Ned Kelly 1880 Trial Re-enactment’ and ‘The Bourke Museum Explore!’

On Wednesday students are to bring a bean bag or comfortable pillow/cushion to sit on for the virtual tours and then leave at school for the Late Stay movie night. If you have any further questions please see your classroom teacher and there will be more information to come this week too.

Have a wonderful week,
