Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Although it has been a short week there is still plenty of news to share. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday. GO CATS!

Solar Buddy

Collaboration was at the centre of our day today, we came together to share equipment and make resources for those without light.

Preps worked with students from years 5 to 10 to complete a craft replica of Solar Buddies and write the accompanying letter. Grade 1-2 and 3-4 students cooperated in small groups to construct individual panels and solve problems collaboratively.

We now look forward to the lights update and delivery late this year.

Thank you to all families and community members who contributed to making today possible and sharing your gift of light with those in need

Parent Voice

REMINDER : PARENT VOICE - WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

We invite our parents and carers to participate in conversations where we would like to hear your voice, celebrate the successes of our school and identify opportunities for future growth.  Hearing the voices of our parents and carers is important for us, in establishing where we are as a school and which direction we should take.

We were hoping to convene these conversations onsite at school but until we hear more advice from the Health Minister we will convene these meetings via WebEx. (If you choose to participate, a link will be shared with you closer to the day). We anticipate the WebEx meetings to run for approximately 30 minutes.

If you would like to be part of the conversations please complete the link below and specify which of the two days you are able to attend.

 Tuesday, 27th October at 9:00am – 9:30am or 9:30am - 10:00am

Wednesday, 28 October at 2:00pm – 2:30pm or 2:30pm - 3:00pm

 The registration closes 12pm Friday, 23 October, 2020. https://forms.gle/ddUtWvHd6LypEdzo6

Wellness Day

The Year 10 students planned, organised and ran Wellness Day last Friday, 16 October. They wanted to acknowledge the hard work and resilience of the Year 7-9 students during both remote and onsite learning by having a fun filled day. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to all students and staff involved! It was a huge success and we are very proud of all our students for getting involved and supporting each other!

Thunderstorm Asthma

Grass pollen season occurs between October and December which may mean an increased risk of seasonal asthma, hay fever and epidemic thunderstorm asthma during this time.

Epidemic thunderstorm asthma events are triggered by an uncommon combination of high grass pollen levels and a certain type of thunderstorm, resulting in large numbers of people developing asthma symptoms over a short period of time.

People with a history of asthma, undiagnosed asthma or hay fever are at an increased risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma during this time. Having both hay fever and asthma that are poorly managed increases the risk further.

More than ever before, this year it’s important for staff and students to manage any hay fever or asthma symptoms, as these conditions can produce symptoms that are similar to coronavirus (COVID-19) such as runny nose, cough or shortness of breath.

The best way to reduce and prevent symptoms of asthma or hay fever and reduce unnecessary absences from school is to please ensure that the school has the most an up-to-date asthma action plan or hay fever treatment plan along with the doctor prescribed medication for your child.

Please contact the office on 5218 5100 if you have any questions or need to check the information \ medication we have onsite for your child\ren.

Thank you to everyone in our school community and beyond who have purchased mangoes!  A total of 122 boxes were sold – the order has now been placed and we will be advised soon of our delivery date.  Once that has been confirmed, we will let you know how you can collect your orders.

Book Fair

We are excited to announce that during Week 6, November 9-13 we will be holding our Scholastic Book Fair! The theme for Book Fair this year is 'Arctic Adventure'.

Dress Up Day

Book Fair Student Wishlists

Students will have the opportunity to browse the Book Fair and create a "wish list" to bring home on the Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning of Book Fair Week This does not mean that you have to purchase any or all of the items on their wish list, it is just a guide for you so that you know what students have seen and liked.

We will advise all the details of how to purchase books closer to the fair date.
