Wellbeing & Engagement

It has been an eventful two weeks since the last newsletter and the Rangeview students have continued to settle back into their classrooms and their friendships very well. The Count us In Celebration Day last Thursday was a wonderful example of grades working together to celebrate music and Australian diversity. Celebrated author Morris Gleitzman spoke through WebEx to our senior students and Level 4 experienced a virtual excursion to Polly Woodside. I am constantly surprised by the flexibility and resilience of our students to embrace new modes of learning with interest and enthusiasm.

COVID19 Safety Management Plan

All schools are operating under a COVID-19 Safety Management Plan (COVIDSafe Plan) which has been developed by the Department of Education based on advice issued by the Victorian Chief Health officer.

The plan covers four key areas of risk;

  • Infectious disease (infection prevention and control)
  • Working alone, in isolation or from home
  • Occupational violence and aggression
  • Mental health and wellbeing

The plan covers a vast range of risk management controls including but not limited to; maintaining health hygiene, effective use of PPE, social distancing, school wide cleaning & access to cleaning supplies, use of shared equipment, required signage, limitations around visitors to school grounds, use of outdoor spaces, the creation of workforce bubbles, management of suspected cases of COVID19, management of confirmed cases of COVID19, staff working from home supports and risk assessments, staff mental health and wellbeing supports and occupational violence and aggression supports.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the Rangeview staff for their continued efforts to support our students throughout this year. We are also very grateful to the school community for your constant support.

RRRR

Our Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships student leaders – Nyah Eadon and Diba Shokoohi – have written a piece for this newsletter and have been out in the playground taking photos of our students playing together.

At Rangeview, we have been learning about gender norms in our R.R.R.R lessons. We have been exploring the importance of gender equality and the rights of everyone. Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships is a fun topic because it promotes and models positive attitude and behaviours. It is an important subject to students because it opens people’s minds about mental health. The students at Rangeview value gender equality in the yard and in the classrooms as you can see in the pictures below. It is awesome to see students respecting and being kind to each other.
