2021 Parent Contributions and Excursion Levy

On Monday 9th November, your child/children will bring home the parent payment contribution notice for 2021.

School Council have recognised that due to the Covid-19 restrictions that were in place for most of 2020, we have not been able to utilise the Activity levy in full.  Some classes have been able to utilise a portion of the levy during term 3 & 4 for virtual incursions which has been a great experience for students, so there is a variation from level to level.

We have automatically applied the relevant credit to your 2021 Activity Levy fee – you will see this credit on your Student’s Essential Curriculum Learning Items breakdown they will bring home.

We have also highlighted in our letter to families, that we recognise the extensive home learning children have undertaken during 2020, and the impact this has had on the use of consumable items during 2020.  As a result, we have offered families a temporary decrease in parent contributions for 2021.We appreciate the continued support of our community, and the wonderful programs we continue to offer at Rangeview Primary School.

Please ask your children to return completed family payment forms to their classroom teacher as soon as possible for processing.

World Teachers’ Day

Thank you to our students and families who sent messages to their teachers to mark World Teachers’ Day on 30 October in such a memorable year. Pictured is Riley presenting his teacher Mr Roche with a medal and a card.

Grade 6 Graduation – A Night Event!!

We have had notification that schools in Melbourne can run graduations in the evening, however without the parents. While our mums and dads will be disappointed that they can't come on site, I am sure our students will be pleased that this significant milestone can be a night event in our hall with cooling.

The teachers and the leadership team will be working on the plan with the students. The dance and ceremony is being planned to be live streamed so parents can watch at home. More information to be shared in the future.

Grade 6 Jacket and Polo Top

An email has been sent out to the families with children in grade 6 in 2021 advising them of the introduction of a special grade 6 polo top and jacket by PSW. This optional jacket and polo shirt will be in our school colours. On Friday the students in grade 5 have voted on the design printed on the back. The office staff will organise Try Booking ordering process and will notify families when this is available.

Foundation 2021 Transition

We have had notification that onsite transition sessions can begin. These sessions have to follow strict COVID safe guidelines and the pre-schoolers will be limited to small numbers at this stage. Teachers can be invited to visit the preschools to speak with the kinder educators as well.

I will work with our current foundation team to work out the plan and how this is managed on our school site. More information to follow.

Meanwhile don’t forget to access our Rangeview Transition Sessions filmed by the talented teachers – there could be a future in Play School from what I have seen.

Parking in the Surrounding Streets

Many families do the right thing and park away from the school and walk to the gates. Unfortunately there have been complaints that people are parking across driveways and ignoring parking limits. Please respect the rules and give thought to the neighbours trying to access their homes or leave their homes at the busy times.

The drop off zones should be that- drop off and move on. We urge you to contact the Whitehorse Council if this a problem where you live.

Ideally take the time to enjoy the fresh air and walk to school. I have noticed a significant increase in the numbers of students  riding their bicycles to school. More so that we are ordering more bike rakes to cater for this increase - go foot traffic and pedal power.
