 Year 7 - The Mask

Last term our students learned characterisation and created some fantastic work.

This term in Performing Arts, our Year 7 students are studying the History of Performing Arts – Greek & Roman Theatre and the importance and significance of – you guessed it THE MASK.

The two masks are the symbolic representation of Drama and Performance. In celebration of the collaboration of our community and in correlation with our study, students are reflecting on the Phantom of the Opera production of Andrew Lloyd Webber – the greatest show on earth.

We have also looked at many cultures in the context of how masks are used in aspects of differing cultural performance.

Students are creating, by design, their own mask plaques and will present them to the college Principals as their gift to the new college to be a wall display in the new Performing Arts space.

They are very excited with this task and moved by their experiences in COVID-19.

They are using plaster of Paris, wire, paint, feathers, lace and lots of paint, glitter, stones, gems etc.

One student has created a design of Greek heritage and her Aboriginality.
