Year 12 Graduation - 4 November

Due to the relaxation of restrictions on school graduation ceremonies, as announced by the Minister for Education, Mr Merlino, on Sunday, we are pleased to inform the GSSC community of the following exciting news.

Bearing in mind that graduation ceremonies, while able to commence, can still only include students and school staff, we have put together a Graduation Ceremony that will be unique, and will still give our hard-working Year 12 students their special moment.

On 4 November the following will occur:

Wanganui Campus

  • At 9:15am, Year 12 Learning Mentor Groups will assemble in the Visy Stadium. Students will be addressed by Mrs Genevieve Simson, Mr Jon Neall, and School Captain Abby Knight. They will then receive their graduation certificates and a small memento of their time at GSSC.
  • Campus Principal will introduce the 2021 GSSC College Captains.
  • At approximately 10:25am the Year 12 students will then be led by staff in a parade around the edge of the school oval, alongside Parkside Dr and Packham St. Years 8-11 students will be present to congratulate our students as they pass.
  • If any parents are observing from vantage points outside of the College grounds, they are reminded to self-distance and practice COVID-safe behaviours.
  • After the parade, Year 12 students will be dismissed.

McGuire Campus

  • At 11:50am, Year 12 Learning Mentor Groups will assemble in the School Gym. Students will be addressed by Mrs Genevieve Simson, Mr John Sciacca, and School Captain Farid Hassani. They will then receive their graduation certificates and a small memento of their time at GSSC.
  • Campus Principal will introduce the 2021 GSSC College Captains.
  • At approximately 12:45pm the Year 12 students will then be led by staff in a parade around the front of the school on Wilmot Road. Years 7-11 students will be present to congratulate our students as they pass.
  • If any parents are observing from vantage points outside of the College grounds, they are reminded to self-distance and practice COVID-safe behaviours.
  • After the parade, Year 12 students will be dismissed.

The entire event will be filmed, and arrangements will be made to livestream presentations to other year levels at each Campus and parents during the event. More details to come closer to the date via Compass.

On Friday 27 November 2020, we intend to feature a professionally produced film of the event on the GSSC YouTube page. A DVD of the event will also be available for purchase later this term.
