Croquet

As part of Year 9/10 Sports for Life students explore what our community has to offer to enable an active lifestyle.

Over the past two weeks, we have been learning the history and rules of Croquet in the classroom, as well as practising the skills of the game at the Beaufort Croquet Club.

Students have played a number of modified games to help them with main skills of the game, as well as Golf Croquet, which is the simple form of croquet. There are no bonus shots – each side plays alternate strokes and each pair tries to be the first to score the next hoop.

With the help of club members, who took the time to work with our students and coach them during our sessions, all students picked up the game of Golf Croquet. The class thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and even got quite competitive at times, using strategy to outplay opponents.

We want to extend our thanks to each of the club members who assisted with our sessions – Club President Ken, Barb, Brenda, Ron and Jo.

During our last session students enjoyed an afternoon tea in the clubrooms and personally thanked the club members for assisting with our lessons.
