Swimming Sports 2020

On Thursday 13th February the school competed in the annual Swimming Sports at the Beaufort Olympic Pool. Although the weather started off a little chilly it definitely warmed up into a beautiful day.

It was great to see so many students have a go and compete to the best of their ability.

A big congratulations to all of the competitors on the day, swimming in both individual and team events to get points for their House. We saw some highly competitive races on the day with some  coming down to the last inch.

To start off the day we held our Honourable Andrew Campbell and Janet Sturgeon races,  a great start to the day. For the Andrew Campbell race, which is open to any male or female aged 15 or Under the winner was Benjamin Allan, with the runner-up Matilda Sporton.

For the Janet Sturgeon race, which is open to any female in the school, our winner was Ashleigh Crowley, with the runner up Victoria Homan.

At the end of the day we awarded the Age Group Champions.

These were;

U13’s Lily Peacock & Tom Lyons

U14’s Dallas Smart & Riley Burril

U15’s Matilda Sporton & Benjamin Allan

U16’s Sophie Cook & Jeff Debast

U17’s Tayla Stanaway-Barker & Jack Peacock

U20’s Ashleigh Crowley & Jeremy Broadbent

We also had two outstanding participants on the day who won the Male and Female Swimmer of the meet. These were Ashleigh Crowley and Jeremy Broadbent.

All four Houses competed in two teams (Kambara/Taltarni and Wandarra/Tanaranga), battling it out in the pool all day. However, after all races had been swum we had to have an overall winner, which was Wandarra/Tanaranga.

 Thank you to the Beaufort Friends of the Pool for putting on a BBQ lunch for everyone and thank you to all family and friends who came along and supported the swimmers for the day. It creates a great atmosphere for everyone.
