CEO'S Report

On August 27 the City LLEN hosted an exciting evening full of young female students across Year’s 9-12 and their parents to learn about the new and emerging careers in the STEM field as well as the future of work and what to expect as the labour market continues to evolve and change.  We would like to thank our partners Girled World, Engineers Australia and Cosmos Magazine for making the night a big success.  Students participated in active tech learning sessions and heard from a range of speakers on various careers including of course all the wonderful options within the Engineering field.  The LLEN organised a door prize (a year’s free subscription to Cosmos Magazine) and show bags for every girl which included a host of useful information on STEM careers and pathway options both within the TAFE and University sectors.  Girled World were great inspirers of the young women who by judging the evaluation feedback we received thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  As a Science graduate myself, I know the skills gained in STEM are useful across a range of careers, including community services!

A big, big thank you to Andrew, Wendy and Claire who worked so hard on the day to transport over 80 bags and equipment to Engineers Australia and for making the evening run smoothly, well done team.
