Level 5/6
Level 5 and 6 News
Level 5 and 6 have settled back into school with great enthusiasm and excitement for another fantastic term of learning. There have been many highlights over the past few weeks including some of our students participating in the Hoop Time Basketball competition. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play competitively while developing their team skills and wonderful leadership. While all teams were able to enjoy some success on the day the team coached by Mr Godwin were able to make the Grand Final. Unfortunately they were not successful on the day but we are so proud of their efforts! A big thank you to Mr Clarke, Mr Godwin and Mr Torr for their amazing coaching skills on the day.
Our Open Classrooms afternoon was a huge success and we were so impressed with the way our students were able to perform their Slam Poetry for their peers and the many visitors to our school. We were also able to share our Stop Motion Sustainability videos from last term and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to visit other classes and support students from across the whole cohort. Thank you to our parents and special visitors for taking the time to share in such a wonderful celebration of learning.
Many discussions have been taking place this term regarding help seeking and being an ‘Upstander.’ Through our lessons using The Resilience Project and our whole year level meetings we have been addressing what an upstander is and how we can use this to seek help when we are unsure in social situations as well as in the classroom environment. We have discussed different ways to start a discussion to seek help such as ‘I have a situation I am unsure of,’ or ‘There are things I am hearing or seeing in the playground.’ It would be wonderful if our students could share there learning regarding this with people they feel comfortable talking to so we are encouraging them to start a conversation at home and explain to their families what this means. We would be thrilled if our families could help support these discussions at home.
