Foundation
Welcome
What a wonderfully busy two weeks we’ve had in Foundation!
Students have shown how responsible they can be, storing iPads safely and taking great care when using their iPad in the classroom. We are looking forward to exploring different learning apps to support our learning throughout Term 3. Cyber Safety Project lessons continue weekly, to learn about and reinforce safe online behaviours. Please ensure that iPads are fully charged when coming to school each day. Listen out for the 8:45 iPad bell when your child can bring their iPad in to their classroom. If you haven’t already done so, please remember to supply your child with a pair of headphones (with a cord).
It was fantastic to see so many parents, family members and prospective families attend our Open Afternoon in Foundation classrooms. Children made their very own Jack in the Box toy and were proud to show case their creative colouring, cutting and construction skills to their visitors. Foundation teachers were also very grateful to have so many helpers in the classroom! Thank you for coming along to view and celebrate your child’s brilliant progress in Foundation.
This week, as part of our Term 3 Inquiry Unit: Toys and Technology, the Foundation children showcased their creative carpentry skills at a woodwork incursion, where they made an awesome toy rocket. Using mini workbenches, they clamped, sawed, sanded and glued wooden pieces to make their toy. The result was amazing!
There are many milestones to be celebrated in Foundation. We have now completed our learning about the Letterland characters from A to Z, including common sounds for reading and correct formation for handwriting. Next week, Foundation students celebrate being at school for 100 days. Exciting plans are in place for a fun and engaging week.
A reminder to please continue to support your child to log library books and books read at home on the Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Have a wonderful week!
