Oakleigh Grammar reflects the true spirit of a community school, which is evident in the overwhelming support we receive, not only from within our school community but also from many external stakeholders.

Our Business Breakfast was testament to this notion as it was arguably a most successful event, judging by the number of guests and quality of presentations. Our keynote speakers Ms Sally Bateman, CEO of Make A Wish Foundation and Mr Charlie McLeish, Managing Director and CEO of Pental inspired the audience with their passion and personal stories.

A highlight of the morning was the highly anticipated school announcement of a naming rights sponsorship for our new Centre for Academic Excellence. Longstanding members of the Greek Orthodox Community, Mr John Nikolakakis and Mr Spiro Nikolakakis have created the Nick and Poly Nikolakakis Foundation in favour of their late parents. It is truly an honour and privilege and indeed tribute to the Nikolakakis family to become our first naming rights sponsor of an Oakleigh Grammar School building.

The Nikolakakis Foundation’s very generous naming rights sponsorship will allow our School to continue to maintain and build upon our infrastructure in favour of current and future generations of students.

I wholeheartedly thank the Business Breakfast Committee and parent facilitator Mr Vic Rajah for the significant planning and event management. I am most grateful to all of our Sponsors who generously contributed to making this morning a success: Lazogas Real Estate, as a platinum sponsor maintains unequivocal support for our School; Larium Private Wealth, Futurity Investment Group, Waterman’s Receivables, IVE Premiums and Merchandise, Vic Rajah Family Lawyers, Bestchance, Moray and Agnew Lawyers, Paul Sadler Swimland, Sts Anargiri Greek Language Centre, Aubrey Paton and Associates, Witch Coffee.

Finally, I wish to acknowledge Hari Tsivoglou for sponsoring the breakfast catering which was appreciated by all in attendance.

Sport Success

It is noteworthy to mention that Oakleigh Grammar continues to ‘bat above its average’ in sports competitions, both in EISM and Bentleigh Districts Association competitions.

Our Senior School Boys Volleyball team convincingly won the minor EISM premiership. Our Year 5 / 6 Soccer Team deservedly reached the Regional playoffs and in a very tough competition have won through to the State Championships which will be played next Wednesday. Many other sports teams have been very competitive to date this year and their sportsmanship has been commendable.

School life continues to be exciting, productive and inspiring for our students and I encourage them to maintain the essence of our 2022 school theme ‘Success Is Ours To Achieve’.
