Assistant Principals' Report

July 2022

Welcome back to another busy term. We are now in week 3 and everyone should be nice and settled into their new classes. Staying focused and striving for excellence in all that we are doing.

Of course, we have many activities to celebrate, the Year 7s have just clocked over 100 days of being at Greensborough College and it is so good that we have been at school all year unlike the past 2 years.

In the coming weeks we will be celebrating and acknowledging our students at the mid semester awards, more information will be coming out very soon.

On Tuesday 19th of July, we held our Subject Expo and Futures Fair. There were several informative resources and discussions with teachers from each subject area, as well as providers of tertiary programs and courses in attendance. It was well attended by students and parents/carers and was an important element of the series of opportunities provided to our students to assist them to make informed pathway choices.

This week, we have continued the valuable process of supporting students and their parents with making informed individual choices of their prospective studies in Senior School in 2023. Current Year 10 students had a Course Counselling interview on Thursday 28th of July. Students currently in Year 9 will be supported through an involved course selection process by reviewing their Morrisby report and Career Action Plan on Tuesday 2nd of August. The College subject handbooks are a valuable resource and can be found on the Compass Newsfeed as well as on our website. We would highly recommend that if any student or parent requires further information or clarification on these matters, please contact our Senior School Leader, Anthony Ellul. Good luck to all our students whilst meeting with teachers to discuss their subjects and career opportunities.

Finally, keep checking Compass posts for the sporting activities and other extra-curricular activities that are running throughout the week. I have also heard a whisper that there is a down ball competition happening this term!

Whilst we have all the fun activities at school it is still cold, it is still important for students to ensure that they stay warm but also to wear the correct uniform. Students like to wear items such as hoodies, but they are not part of the school uniform, and if caught wearing them, the hoodies will be confiscated and a detention will be issued, please remember that students wanting to wear the school scarf will need to purchase this at the uniform shop. Also, a reminder that students should be wearing the correct uniform, either full academic or full PE uniform on the correct days.

We are also asking all students to ensure they have a lock to secure their lockers. Having a lock is mandatory at Greensborough College.

Over the coming weeks we will be conducting locker bay checks, wiring up lockers that do not have any lock and getting students to make sure their lockers are left clean and tidy.
