Visual Art

At Mackellar Primary School term 3 has seen the re-launched of our Visual Art program classes using the Victorian curriculum. As students explore visual arts, they make and share their artworks and experience visual arts as audiences.

Students will become aware of whom artists, craftspeople and designers are, and will be given an opportunity to express their ideas through different art forms and visual expressions.

All classes began the term with becoming familiar with our art space and they have started their ‘forever’ page in their visual arts diary or V.A.D

An outstanding piece of art was created by Israel from prep A, his work has set the bar for everyone else to achieve towards.

Our next 4 weeks are devoted to exploring colour, the Junior grades are using acrylic paints and have created a mural after reading the text, ‘The Dot’ for inspiration. The mural is made up of the primary colours from students P - 3

During our sessions, senior students have been using watercolour paints and explored transparency using the primary and secondary colours of a single hue and varying their intensity.
