FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I hope everyone's enjoyed their return to school this term. It's been great to see students getting back into their normal routines of learning and having fun with their peers.
Unfortunately COVID is still with us, alongside other illness such as the flu and colds. Like all schools, it has been challenging (but still manageable so far) to find replacement teachers when staff are absent. The more we can do to keep our staff and students healthy, the easier it will be to maintain a normal learning program.
We ask that students and families continue to do what they can to reduce the spread of these illnesses for themselves and others. Our main focuses are:
The Victorian Department of Health strongly recommends that face masks are worn in indoor settings, and as a consequence, it is a Department of Education expectation that all students over the age of 8 and staff in all schools across Victoria wear a mask when in class (except where removing a mask is necessary for clear communication) from now to the end of winter. To this end, we also request that all visitors to the school adhere to this expectation as well.
Please see the attached letter for more information.
Students have also been reminded that they need to be wearing a jumper, jacket or vest when they are outside and it is less than 10 degrees. Please make sure uniforms are labelled so it is easier to return lost items.
STAFFING CHANGES
Miss J has begun her family leave as she prepares for the newest addition to her family. We wish her and the rest of the family all the best and we look forward to hearing updates from her.
We are lucky enough to have Mrs Jacobs taking over from her as the primary teacher in 3/4A. She will be working from Monday-Thursday, with Miss Radford teaching on Fridays.
We also have Mr Beer working with us for the rest of the year to improve our teaching in Maths. He is an experienced classroom teacher and principal with a wealth of knowledge to share with us. He has already spent time in the classrooms getting to know students and staff and is looking forward to working with us.
BREAD BAGS
Thanks to all families who have brought into clean bread bags for our Wonder Rewards program. We've already filled two bins and sent them off to be recycled (you get some strange looks in the post office when you're carrying a huge bag full of bread bags). We have until the end of September to fill three more bins so we can get the maximum number of points to spend on sporting equipment.
UPDATE FROM MRS RUSH
Please make sure you check the "Hello from Canada" update from Mrs Rush to see how her and her family are going on their holiday.
Emails were sent out to all parents at the end of Term 2 inviting them to download and install the school app. Currently, we are using the app to notify absences and for whole school notification.
The newsletter will remain in this format and will continue to be emailed out fortnightly. A link will also be provided in the app.
Below is a quick 'how to' to assist with installing and setting up your school app.
