Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

It is lovely to be back with everyone after a short period of medical leave. The students have been continuing with their dance lessons which staff have told me have been greatly enjoyed.

Our Year 1/ 2 classes were able to have their excursion to Seaford Wetlands today as part of their inquiry learning. I believe that the wetlands are a great asset to the families of Seaford and beyond. Having lived in Park St when my boys were smaller our family regularly walked around the wetlands and enjoyed learning about the different birds and spotting the eels. This has helped my sons have a lifelong interest in the environment and my younger one now is studying it at university.  I hope our students have learnt a lot today and enhanced their appreciation of what a valuable, and necessary, asset our wetlands are.

Tomorrow our home and away Senior Sport continues for our Year 5 & 6 students (possibly some Year 4's as required). Our third  round of games will be played away against Belvedere PS. Next week we play away at Mahogany Park PS.  I hope all the students have an enjoyable time and represent their school with pride.  I thank the parents who are supporting these activities.

Next week on Monday and Tuesday Mrs Brown and Mr Bright will be attending teacher education on the Berry Street approach to student wellbeing. This approach underlies how we support student socio-emotional learning throughout the school and it will be good to have all of our classroom teachers and leadership now fully trained in this.  In other staff news Mrs Di Paolo, who looks after Reading Recovery, will commence Long Serevice Leave until the end of term. We wish her and her husband Emilio a brilliant time travelling north.

Next Wednesday evening the Parish will be holding a Confirmation preparation evening in the church. It would be expected that if a student is to receive Confirmation with the Bishop later in the year that family's are in attendance on this evening.

Thank you to those families who are keeping their children home who are unwell. It is a challenging time with staff regularly absent due to illness but be assured that we look forward to having as many of our students who are well enough to attend at school each day!!!! Please keep those who are unwell in your prayers.

God Bless

Rod Shaw
