Yr 10 Duke of Edinburgh Voluntary Service

The Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh class have been busy working across Semester One completing voluntary service as a requirement of completing their Bronze Certificates.

The class has been working in conjunction with the Friends of the Dell to complete maintenance and gardening works at Bellbird Dell Reserve.

Students have undertaken clearing, mulching and planting of native plant species and have gained insight into the amount of biodiversity and types of flora and fauna present in our local environments. The primary focus has been in planting and across three sessions have planted close to 1000 plants!! Duke of Ed Students across the last 2 year has completed 241 hours, removed 0.3CBM of weeds, spread 50CBM of mulch and planted over 2000 plants, what an effort!!

Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh students also recently volunteered at the Greythorn Primary School Athletics Carnival at Hagenauer’s Reserve. Students assisted with marshalling and starting races, measuring jumping and throwing events and awarding winners and placing for races. Students also found some time for a class 100m!!

Students should feel proud of the impact that they are making in the community!!
