Strictly Ballroom

We couldn't resist one last look back at Strictly Ballroom!

Hundreds of hours of work go into making an extraordinary theatre experience for our students and the audiences.  From our actors, orchestra members, backstage crew through to our theatre techs, stage make-up artists and staff, there was plenty happening behind the scenes in the lead-up to the curtain rising on Strictly Ballroom last term.

The Theatre Technicians Team operated tech for the musical, working things such as follow-spot, audio recorder, assistant technical director comms operations, and many more.

This year we had a larger and much younger crew than Girton has ever had before. The students had been training throughout the year.

Meanwhile, a small but dedicated team has constructed the set, programmed the sound and lighting cues, organised dressing rooms, costumes and head mics for 42 cast members and set up the orchestra pit.

Orchestra and crew technical rehearsals ran late into the evening, with two full days of dress rehearsals prior to the production.
