Seeking Friends of Performing Arts Volunteers

The Friends of Performing Arts (FoPA) group would like to pass on congratulations to all involved in the Strictly Ballroom and Legally Blonde productions, both performers and musicians. We also understand rehearsals are well underway for the Junior School production and we look forward to the music ensembles evenings coming up. It has been a year to be proud of Girton Grammar School.

FoPA is a group of volunteer parents who work to support the Performing Arts faculty and to raise funds for equipment that will assist the program. If you're a parent of a student who has participated in a recent Girton Performing Arts production, or just have an interest in the School's Performing Arts Program, we would like to extend an invitation to you to join FoPA.

FoPA has a large representation of members who are parents of graduating year 12 students. These members have contributed wonderful service to support performing arts activities held at Girton Grammar, and we thank them as they now look to retire from the group.

We are looking to appoint six new members who are willing to give one year of service to the program. The committee meets around 6 times a year, the meetings are held for fewer than 60 mins and provide a relaxed forum for contributing ideas and volunteering to complete the odd task to help with fundraising. Fundraising activities usually happen at the scheduled productions, which many are already attending if their children are taking part. There may be a shift helping out at a sausage sizzle or such. It’s a great way to meet parents of children with similar interests and to support the Girton Performing Arts community.

If you would like to get involved please email FoPA secretary, kylie@darwinsfinches.net or come along to our next meeting to be held on 22nd August at 5.30pm in the boardroom in the PA building.
