FAQ - Entry & Exit to the Service and Emergency Responses

Entry & Exit to the Service

Thank you to everyone who remembers to sign in with the QR code each time you come to drop off or pick up your child.  Please remember that this is law in SA, so if we were to be monitored and be seen to not comply with this regulation a personal and business fine would be issued.

When siblings come to drop off or pick up, we ask that they remain with you and not wander the Centre.  These times can be tricky for some children and therefore ensuring that they remain in their learning areas until it is time for them to go is important.  We also ask that siblings do not sign children in or out of Fully Booked nor use the Green Exit button.

We are diligent in ensuring that each child goes home with the correct adult.  You can support us with this by ensuring that your Emergency Contact details on Fully Booked include each person who has permission to collect your child.  If for any reason an alternative person is required to pick up your child we ask that you call the Service and notify us of the person's name so that we can take a photo of their identification at pick up.

It is also important to remember that you must sign your child in and out each day.  We appreciate that at times the system does not work efficiently so will endeavor to support you with this.  We thank you for remembering to do this each day and ensuring the door or gate is closed on your departure.

Curiosity places a high priority on the safety of each child and staff member.  We do weekly risk assessments on our environments and resources and participate in WHS meetings three times a term at Curiosity and once a term as an entire school site.

Each term two of our emergency drills are practiced on different days to ensure that each of our children have the opportunity to participate in these drills twice a year.

Our Evacuation Drill requires our learning community to evacuate the building and congregate in the back of the car park.  An evacuation bag containing blankets, tarps, water, food, books and first aid is taken by the First Aid Responder to care for the needs of our children.  Individual medication for children with specialised needs have their medication collected and taken to the congregation point.  If the car park is deemed unsafe, we have a secondary congregation point under the Kiss and Drop verandah at the school.  If an evacuation is required parents would be notified as to the location of their child and if collection is necessary or not.

Our In-evacuation Drill requires our learning community to congregate in two meeting areas within the Centre that have limited access.  This response would only be required if the safety of the children was threatened by an outside influence such as an unknown person.  The evacuation bag and medications are collected and located within the meeting areas.

Before each drill is performed the Lead Educators talk to the children about their right to be safe and how it is everyone's job to help by listening and following the instructions of their educators.

We are so proud of the way that our children respond each time we practice these drills.
