4th June- Year 2 & Year 3

18th June- Year 4 & Stage 3

On Monday 24th May, we celebrated a whole school mass to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians.

This feast day has been celebrated in Australia since 1844 when people turned to Mary due to a shortage of priests. It was the Rosary in those early days that kept the faith alive. Catholic Australia remained faithful to Mary and was the first nation to choose her under the title Help of Christians, as principal Patroness.

St Mary’s Cathedral was dedicated in her honour by the Irish pioneer priest, Fr John Therry, who arrived in Sydney in 1820 and assumed responsibility for the planning and initial construction of the Cathedral.

Everyday at noon, the students pray the Angelus which reminds us of Mary’s Yes when the Angel Gabriel visited her and passed on God’s message, asking Mary to be the mother of His son, Jesus. The Angelus directs us to Jesus’ life, his passion, the cross and looks forward to the resurrection.

On Monday the 31st May, we will celebrate The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

We celebrate when Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaimed Mary as the Mother of God. Elizabeth said "You are the most blessed of all women, and blessed is the child you will bear!”

Our community is truly very generous.

Thank you to everyone for your kind donations. Also, to the Wallace family for driving our 'snack pack' donations to Maria Gordon House (1d Thomas Street Lewisham).

Month of May is Mary's month (May 1-31)
