SHELLEY PARKES

Head of Junior School

Our Early childhood setting works to develop our students' individual wellbeing, giving them confidence, optimism and self-esteem. It was a wonderful celebration earlier this term where our current K4 students attended their very first Junior School assembly. It was a very proud moment as I addressed our students across K4 – Year 5.

Our Junior School strives to reflect a connected school community for our students, families and teachers, learning from each other, together in a collaborative environment, inside and outside the classroom. This has been particularly strong across our K4 and Prep community.

The Junior School environment connects all our students to meet common learning goals. K4 students have taken part in a variety of activities across the School.

Research shows us that when our students feel connected, there is a greater sense of belonging, school pride and motivation to learn. Our educators sharing their learning goals and providing opportunities to collaborate enhances accountability across the whole School Community.

The Oakleigh Grammar learning environment reflects the diverse knowledge and skills of all community members.

Our School Community builds a sense of connectedness and belonging. We reflect when a great school community is united, allowing us to best prepare our students for the learning opportunities that are social, collaborative, personalised, and participatory as they move through all the phases of The Quartet.
