PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Fantastic news for PPPS; $5.4 million for building works at PPPS! We received a very exciting phone call from Lily D’Ambrosio MP for Mill Park, who informed me that PPPS was one of the fortunate schools to receive Capital Works building funding in the recent budget.

The foundation of the plan we develop will be our school's educational Purpose which is

Plenty Parklands Primary School is a place of learning.

We educate children as lifelong learners to thrive in our rapidly changing and increasingly connected world.

Using this as the basis, we will look at the curriculum areas we want to develop or enhance over the next five years. The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), architects and builders will then translate our vision into reality.

Over the years we have identified building works we believe will strengthen the learning experiences and outcomes for our students; everything from an Arts Hub, a new library, to new class hubs; the list goes on. We will be engaging with our students, staff and you, the community, to get your ideas so we make the best possible use of the funding for our kids. Our recent information session pointed out, however, that this consultation process has to be completed by June 11; that doesn’t leave us much time at all.

To prepare for the upgrade, we will complete an Asset Management Plan (AMP) over the next 11 weeks. The AMP is a long-term document that helps to plan for a school’s future. The plan identifies, organises and prioritises the building works required at a school – ensuring students have access to educational facilities that prepare them to thrive in the 21st century. This will help ensure our building plans support our educational direction and long-term vision for the school. We will be sharing updates along the way.

More exciting news is that in term 3 we will begin planning concert items with students. The Concert Committee has already met and is preparing for another enjoyable and successful concert. At this stage we are planning to hold the concert at Plenty Ranges with a reduced capacity, however as we all know, things can change very quickly, so we will keep you informed along the way.

Please take care of yourself and your family, and reach out to friends and neighbours; we have managed through restrictions before and we will again.
