PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Welcome to Murputja Staff Bulletin Number 4
Site Improvement Plan Review
Thank you again to everyone for their active participation in the Site Improvement Plan Review. The information provided has helped enormously with the drafting of a revised Site Improvement Plan. This plan has been shared with the Principal Consultant and has been endorsed in readiness to share with Governing Council. As discussed at staff meeting, the revised SIP has seen the focus on Writing being replaced with Reading. This will mean that as a school we will be working towards implementing oral language, phonics and phonological awareness. This work on implementing intensive reading intervention is critical to improving learning and life outcomes for our students. It is a moral imperative that we do all we can to ensure that our students are able to read.
Attached below is a 'one pager' which clearly outlines the focus of our improvement agenda at Murputja Anangu School. Whilst this is the final year of our current SIP, it is important to remember that the priorities of Reading and Mathematics are a long term improvement focus for our learning as professionals. Thanks again for your active participation in the review process. It is clearly evident that as a staff we are all passionate about providing reading intervention to our students.
Staff feedback regarding the revised 2021 SIP.
100 Day Plan
Thank you also for everyone's work over the past couple of weeks as we continue to work towards completing the tasks outlined in the 100 day Plan. It has been very pleasing to see just how quickly we are transforming our school as we work through the tasks. Please see an updated version of our 100 Day Plan.
Covid19 Safety Plan
Each DfE site is required to develop a Covid19 Action Plan to ensure sites remain as COVID safe as possible. Attached below is a draft of the Murputja Anangu School Safety Plan which will be shared at this week's staff meeting. Please make yourself familiar with the plan prior to this week's staff meeting.
Nganampa Health is now offering the AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine to eligible staff (over 50+) who are based or currently working on the APY Lands
If you are interested please contact Dr Kerrie Gell on 08 8950 6801 to discuss any questions you may have.
Performance & Development Plan Conversations
Thank you to those people who have completed their PDP conversations with me already. I hope to complete the remaining PDP conversations this week.
Those who have not yet completed their initial PDP conversation with me are reminded to consider the attached PDP proforma and familiarise themselves with both the format and the PDP process. The departmental expectation is that all staff complete their 6 monthly PDP conversation by May 31st.
PDP plans are expected to be closely aligned to the revised Site Improvement Plan priorities. I will support the drafting of PDP plans during the conversation.
If you have any questions regarding PDP process please feel free to speak with me.
WHS Safety Inspections
Thank you to everyone for assisting with the WHS Safety Inspections last week. The inspections highlighted only a few minor issues which will be addressed asap. The issues raised are:
- blinds required on north facing windows
- work station assessments required by staff regularly working on computers
- powerboards with individual on/off switches and overload protection
- step ladders for library
Please note:
There are heavy items stored above waist height in the teacher resource room. Please do not lift heavy items off the shelves in this area until the resources have been sorted and stored safely.
Music Competition Proposal
Please read the attached proposal regarding a Music Camp for the APY Lands. I would be happy to pass on your feedback.
HR Clarification
Apparently there has been some confusion from teachers across DfE regarding the application process for primary teaching positions that are not yet advertised.
At this stage the application process for these vacancies is yet to be determined.
The only applicants who need to build their profile on the dedicated recruitment portal are those who are applying for the positions which are currently advertised. Please feel free to see me if you have any questions and I will endeavor to find the answer for you.
I WORK FOR SA – Your Voice survey

Sports Activities
Please find attached a document sent through by Mitch Vanson from Amata Anangu School. There are some great suggestions here which I am sure our students would find engaging and enjoyable.

Staff Induction/Handbook tab added to Bulletin
You will have noticed that a new ' Staff Induction/Handbook' tab has been added to the staff bulletin. This tab will serve as a permanent resource for staff to Murputja Anangu School. The resource will be built over the coming months so that new (and existing) staff are able to easily access the necessary induction material as they join the Murputja Anangu School community. This will support the induction of new staff, but will also serve as our electronic staff handbook.
