Positive Behaviour for Learning

This year we commenced Positive Behaviour for Learning. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole-school framework that promotes positive behaviour across a school and helps schools develop safe and supportive learning environments.

Schools which implement the PBL framework make sure all students are explicitly taught the expected behaviours and establish clear and consistent boundaries. Staff take a proactive, preventative approach to ensure all students receive the appropriate level of support to help them to be successful at school.

We have had staff, student and family consultation that has led to reviewing our values for PBL and we decided on three key values. We have developed a PBL logo after consultation as well. I am please to introduce you to our new PBL logo.

During Semester one we also develoed a PBL matrix of expected behaviours. This term we have been implementing PBL with explicit teaching around expected behaviours and as a result have clear and consistent boundaries reinforced across the school. We have also designed a PBL matrix which will appear across the school for the start of Term 4.

We are already seeing very positive results across the school. We will continue to work with Jane Bennet, our external PBL consultant in Term 4. We would love to hear your feedback about our logo or our matrix or generally about PBL implementation at St Francis de Sales.

Throwing OPEN the Doors!!

As we come to the end of another action packed term, I take this opportunity to thank all our staff. A huge thanks for all they do to ensure the very BEST for our children. Parent/ teacher interviews have been a very positive and constructive opportunity to review children's learning and set new goals. Thanks to the staff for all their professional commitment to this key task. Thanks to our parents for their participation in this dialogue and for working in partnership to support improvement plans for your child. Whenever the school and home work in partnership the results are amplified to new heights. I encourage parents to maintain this vital communication.

We seem to be putting COVID behind us, finally we can throw open our doors and warmly welcome you back into the learning spaces. Please come and join us in the mornings or after school. The weather will be warmer, so we hope we see many of you as possible at the school. Please keep 3rd November free to join us for our Twilight Market and our 2022 Art Show. We look forward to seeing our Multi-purpose Hall near completion.

Finally, a BIG thanks to our wonderful, enthusiastic and engaged students. We congratulate you on your learning and involvement in all the opportunities provided across this term. You have done a great job.

We wish you all a very happy and relaxing holiday. Have a safe and enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 3rd October for the start of Term 4, 2022.
