Greetings from Shaun

Welcome back!

I hope everyone managed to have a relaxing break and spend some quality time with friends and family. In my conversations in the yard with students, parents, carers and staff I noticed two very distinct themes for holiday choices this time around. The most popular choice appears to be a tropical destination followed closely by some much needed couch time at home. Please note that this may not be statistically accurate, as my data collection methods left a lot to be desired and would not stand up to scientific inquiry.

Whatever people got up to, it appears to have allowed everyone some time to recharge and get ready for the final term of the school year.

We have a fun, but very busy Term 4 ahead of us, with the following being just a few of the activities to look forward to that are coming up:

  • 2023 Prep Transition
  • Grade 1/2 Camp to Mt Evelyn
  • Grade 3/4 Camp to Toolangi
  • Grade 5/6 Camp the "Summit"
  • Mango drive, Tea Towel fundraiser and Icey Pole fundraisers
  • Grade 6 Graduation
  • Year 7 Orientation Day
  • End of Year Picnic and Art Show

We welcome 3 new members of staff this term, and one returning staff member to a new role.

Harry Downing - replacing Andrea for Term 4 in Grade 5/6

Carmen Caruso - replacing Elena for Term 4 for Grade Prep to 2 Italian

Meagan Porter - after working as part of the Tutor Learning Initiative, is now replacing Lisa for Term 4 in Grade 3/4

Rebecca Garrow - to the role of Leading Teacher, supporting staff in teaching and learning

If you see one of these new faces around the school, be sure to say hello!

I am also excited to announce that we are also welcoming five new students and their families to our school across this week and next. If you see any new faces around the school, please be sure to give them a welcoming smile and introduce yourselves as we welcome them in to our beautiful Northcote school community.

We saw a glimpse of warmer weather earlier this week and as the weather starts to warm up and UV index rises, a reminder that all students must now wear a sun smart hat each day whilst playing outside. If your child does not have a hat, there are some available for purchase at the school office. Come in and see the lovely Donna. She will even be able to offer a fitting to help find the right size.

As we finish the first week of term, we are looking forward to another full term of school, making this our first full year of onsite schooling for our Preps, Ones and Twos - it has certainly been a big year and we look forward to what we have in store in the coming weeks and months!
