Friendship Challenges
“A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself.” Jim Morrison
Dear Families,
Surely, one of the best things about coming to school has to be seeing our friends. Most of us love chatting, playing games and having fun together. But this doesn’t always go to plan. Sometimes our friends are unkind, and we find ourselves struggling or worrying, and feeling left out. These are the challenges our kids can face and are part of growing up. We all know as adults that these times can be tough and might even be able to remember a time when we had our friendship challenges at school. We might even have them as adults.
At school, our staff help our students work through these difficult times. Teachers may deliver lessons about friendship and kindness. They may provide coaching about making friends or how to be a good friend. Sometimes our students get to work with our amazing chaplain Rhonda, who is such a great support to our kids. At times, they may work with our inclusion teacher James Field. Or they may get to work with myself. At other times, Scott or Kristy may help our students too. Overall, we have a well-experienced and knowledgeable team helping our students to be grow to be kind, caring and resilient friends.
“The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend.” Henry David Thoreau
