Discover Dance Program

A message from Miss D'Ortenzio

DANCE REPORT

It's been a huge month for the students in the Discover Dance program, with assembly performances, excursions and VCE solo exams.

First week back we started with the Year 8 Assembly, where both Jennifer Opara and Isobel Laffan confidently performed solo dance routines, they each choreographed independently. These girls did a fantastic job performing in front of their peers which can often be intimidating. We are very proud of both Jenny and Izzy!

Second week back we had a group of students from Year 7 perform at their year level assembly. Emily Denham, Emily Hibbins, Emilia Blackwell, Holly Cutajar and Scarlett Harris all performed beautifully and confidently in front of their peers. Their lyrical routine is one they have been learning in their Discover Dance program lessons.

In the same week, Chloe Stray from Year 12 completed her VCE VET Solo performance examination. For this, she attended Transit Dance studios in Brunswick to perform her 2 solos; contemporary and jazz. Chloe has been involved in the Dance program at Reservoir High throughout her years at the school and we are so proud of all her achievements. We wish Chloe every success in her years beyond school. Good luck Chloe!

In week 3 we had our Whole School Assembly, where our hard-working Dance Team students confidently performed their new jazz routine 'Dangerous'. The students involved in Dance Team are hugely dedicated to progressing their physical, artistic and performance skills in dance, and work together every Monday after school to learn new skills and routines. The Dance Team can look forward to taking on new and exciting opportunities in 2023!

Then in week 4, just in case we hadn't done enough performances already, selected students from Year 9 Advance and the Discover Dance program put on a show at the La Trobe Retirement Village. Selected students showcased solos and group routines learnt in Dance classes throughout the year. We were so proud of the students' behaviour, respect and leadership shown on this excursion. Well done to all involved. Big thank you to Ms Rogneda for organising.

Up next for the Dance students will be performing at the Performing Arts night in Week 10, so stay tuned!
