Senior School Report

Senior School News

Dear Senior School community,

As I write this it feels like a whole term has already been completed in the senior school, in under four weeks we have celebrated and said goodbye to the class of 2022.

The students have earnt the right to celebrate the end of their secondary school journey with a fabulous whole school assembly and the annual fancy dress morning. This was then followed up with our Graduation Evening where students were acknowledged for completing either their VCE or VCAL in addition to special awards, some of the photos are included here.

Graduation Evening was a wonderful night to celebrate this milestone with the students and their families/friends. We were thoroughly entertained by Chloe Stray who did a great dance performance and Vitale Tootoo and the Senior Band who sang a great version of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’.

For the VCE students completing their exams last Wednesday (for the first English/EAL  exam)the butterflies could have felt like birds as the nerves kicked in with the start of the VCAA End of Year Exam period. However, as I am sure they were prepared, those nerves quickly vanished when they were told they could start writing. It was very pleasing to hear that the students were writing right up to the last moment. The worst thing any student can do in an exam is finish early and close their paper. What has been written can always be re-read many times to make sure there are no mistakes or see if anything can be added to the answers provided. We have 10 more days of exams before the Year 12 group can say 100% their year is over.

The Year 11 students are not forgotten in this hectic time of the year. Their turn to start wrapping the year up is nearly upon us and before they know it they will be sitting their exams and undertaking Jumpstart. The exam period for Year 11 students is November 10 to 18 and Jumpstart will go from November 21 to 25. November 25 will be their last day and all students are expected to attend every Jumpstart session as it will prepare them for 2023 and holiday homework will be set.

I wish all the students the best for their exam period.
